Open All Year!

Mook Lanta Eco Resort is open throughout the year, but during Green Season our restaurant will be only open for breakfast and the bar is open until 7pm everyday.

Locals, expats and guests from other resorts are more than welcome to come and enjoy our delicious breakfast with limitless fresh coffee and free WiFi. Why not try our famous Mook Muffin?

Green Season (May to October) is a great time to visit the island, it doesn't rain everyday (but expect some whilst you are here), it is always hot but the weather is a little less predictable. At this time the locals and expats have more time for you and of course the rooms are less than half price!

We are getting quite a few bookings, so if you would like to book, please do this direct, as we will beat any of our booking agent prices!

Big Mook Lanta Thank You!

We have had a superb High Season and we are looking for a fun-packed, but a little bit more relaxed Green Season.

All through High Season our guests have been leaving their beach toys, mats, games etc with us so that other's can enjoy them. Throughout the season I have seen children (and adults) sneak to the box to borrow a bucket and spade, a boogie board, a football and more.

At the end of April every year, the Children of the Forest Foundation, come to the island to enable the children they look after to have a holiday. The Children of the Forest look after orphaned Burmese children (and those left by their parents) on the Thai side of the Burma/Thailand border. These children have no rights in Thailand, they cannot gain asylum or gain citizenship and so have no access to healthcare, schooling and employment.

Children of the Forest provide a safe shelter for these children and offer them schooling. healthcare and food.

Every year they ask the people of Koh Lanta to help and each year, hotels give free rooms, restaurants provide food and boat companies provide boat trips. The local and expat community also give clothes, toys and sweets for the children.

So Mook Lanta has taken all the toys etc left by our guests, as well as gifts donated by our guests and ourselves to Time For Lime Cookery School, where the children will be enjoying a day at the beach. Our bags were full of:
  1. A Boogie Board
  2. Water Guns
  3. Football
  4. Bats and a ball
  5. Fins
  6. 2 Bucket and spades (the deluxe versions with everything you could imagine)
  7. Lifejackets
  8. Beach Shoes
  9. Arm Bands
  10. Mask and snorkels
  11. and much much more!
Thank you for helping us to REDUCE our use of plastic toys, REUSE the toys you have bought and RECYCLE them to help kids who have never had a day at the beach. We still have the box at reception and are happy to receive donations which will be shared with our guests and these lovely kids next year.

Mexican with a hint of Thai spice!

Chilli's Restaurant
We have had a busy high season, so we have been wanting to try Chilli's in Klong Dao for many months, but not had the chance. However with family here we took a long awaited trip there.

The beautiful Chilli
Chilli's is this cool little restaurant by the side of the road, near the turning to Kaw Kwang. There are only a few tables but when we arrived there was already a large table and a couple already there. Luckily we arrived when we did, because the remaining tables filled up quickly after us.

Chilli's offers some lovely Mexican food and Pizzas, with a hint of Thai, washed down with some excellent cocktails and hosted by the wonderful Chilli herself.
Chicken Fajitas
Nick's aunt and myself had the Chicken Fajitas, which were delicious and very filling, whilst Nick enjoyed a flavoursome burger with extra homemade barbeque sauce. The food was delicious, more than enough and cheap too!

Thoroughly recommended!

Sawadee Pi Mai!

Yes, it is that favourite time of year again, Thai New Year!

Songkran is the most popular Thai holiday with both the Thai people and Tourists celebrating the arrival of the Thai New Year together. It is traditionally celebrated by dropping water over the heads of your loved ones and covering the cheeks in white powder (as a method of cleansing you for the New Year). This has developed into the world's biggest water fight!

Yes that is right, yesterday Thailand was at war! From about midday yesterday, tourists and Thai's lined the streets with buckets, water guns, talcum powder, beer and loud music. The only place to be was on the main street running through the island, well unless you wanted to stay dry!

Sawadee Pi Mai (Happy New Year) to all our Thai friends.

Thank you!

We would like to say a big thank you to all our lovely (and not so lovely) guests for providing feedback to us, or via TripAdvisor or a booking agent about our resort.

I read this to my mother when I saw it and it brought me to tears!
We do take the time to read all the reviews we receive, good and bad, and we do try to learn from them.

We would love to be loved by everyone, but obviously Mook Lanta Eco Resort is not a hit with every guest, but we are pleased that many of you do take the time to provide us with feedback. We promise we do not ignore it but do try to look if we could change ourselves to appeal to more people. Sometimes your feedback results in immediate action (ie a request for better curtains in the Cozy Fan Bamboo Bungalows resulted in a mad dash by Nick and myself to Krabi to buy some), sometimes it takes a little longer (being able to offer paper rather than plastic straws to those that request them) and sometimes we are unable to (providing Air Con in the fan bungalows!).

So a big thank you to
  • All our guests from who have collectively awarded us a 4 out of 5.
  • Our reviewers on TripAdvisor who have rated us 4 out of 5 and put us in the top 20 hotels on the island.
  • Our guests from who awarded us 4.1 out of 5
I promise that not only do we read your reviews, but the truly wonderful and awful ones make us cry!

If you are thinking of booking with us, please remember that if you book direct with me, we can talk through the different room types to ensure you choose the right bungalow for you AND you get the best prices! Then you will get the bungalow you are happy with and I get 5 out of 5 next year!

Meeting new friends at The Table

I have wanted to eat at 'The Table' for a long time. The Table is a restaurant with a twist, there is only one table and there is no menu.

Klangchai, the owner, visits the market on the day and looks for locally sourced meat, fruit and vegetables that she can create authentic Thai dishes from. This gives people a chance to try different types of Thai food.
Klangchai (in the middle) with 2 assistants
Klangchai cooks the food, with an assistant and Peter, her partner welcomes the guests.
There are 5 courses and when each course is presented, Klangchai provides some information about the meal, it's name, the region of Thailand it comes from and what it contains. Every course was different, delicious, and not too spicy (much to my brother's delight) and there was plenty to eat.

But the reason I will return and recommend it time and again is because it is a lovely way to meet new people. There were 13 people at The Table that night and whilst we did not speak to all at the table, the 5 next to us, were funny, entertaining and from all over the world.

I would thoroughly recommend The Table, to my friends, family and guests, especially those that want to meet new people and enjoy trying something new.

Thank you Klangchai and Peter for a wonderful night, I will be returning soon!

Introducing Teang

My apologies ladies and gentlemen, we have had  a new member of staff join us this year and I forgot to introduce them:

I am very pleased to introduce Teang, our receptionist, who has been with us for most of this high season. She speaks great English and works alongside the wonderful Gin, our hotel manager.
