Happy Christmas

Santa left all our guests a present
Well it has been hard work this Christmas, but we really enjoyed it.

Luckily we are able to contact Santa to ensure that all our guests received a present on Christmas morning. He does have to improvise though, as we don't have any Chimneys!

Buck's Fizz on offer Breakfast Morning
Throughout breakfast we played Christmas tunes and offered our guests Buck's Fizz (orange juice and champagne) and we all wished each other a Merry Christmas.

At 2pm, we shut the resort for 1 hour, whilst we exchanged presents with our staff. We play Secret Santa (we are each given a member of staff to buy a present for). Gin, as normal, was eyeing up the presents to ensure she got the best presents!

New Keyrings for the Room
However I got the best present from Gin, new room keys for the resort, something I have wanted for ages.
Nick in his new towel
As everyone opens their presents, I notice that Kai, one of our cleaners, was looking really disappointed with her present, a beautiful pink battery charger for her phone, that I had bought for her. I asked Gin what was the matter and she told me that Kai did not have a smart phone and so had no need for the charger. Gutted Nick and I rush out and buy her a much nicer and much more expensive purse, to make up for that mistake. She seemed quite pleased with this one.
Kai was much happier with her second present.
Luckily everyone checked in early, so Nick and I were able to head out for a few hours of Christmas for ourselves.
Partial Solar Eclipse on Boxing Day
Boxing day, 26th December, at 12.05pm, the skies became a little darker as we were experiencing a partial solar eclipse.

I hope your Christmas was a much fun as ours and I hope you have an even more fabulous New Year.

Goodbye to Plastic Bottles

Every year we try to take a least one more step to be greener and this year we felt we could say goodbye to plastic water bottles completely and offer our guests reusable metal bottles for their stay with us at Mook Lanta Eco Resort.

May, of May's Kitchen, enjoying her new bottle!
From today, our customer's will be given the choice of a plastic water bottle (which will become reusable Trash Hero Bottles when the small remaining plastic bottles have been used), purchase the Mook Lanta Eco Bottle or use their own (something we are seeing more and more of).

Nick has taken his diving today with Dive & Relax
They are already proving very popular with our guests and friends and Nick took no time in taking one for himself today so he could use it whilst diving with Dive & Relax today!
The Trash Hero Bottles will be given to our guests to use during their stay
The Trash Hero Bottles will be free to use during your stay with us, however guests can purchase these if they wish too.

We pimped his ride

So for over 7 years Christian has been coming to Mook Lanta, twice a year, every year. And every year he only wants one particular bike.

So this year, Gin decided to pimp his bike for him.

He loved it!

It is a Small World!

Us and some previous guests at the Noel Gallagher Gig
Every now and again, Nick and I, go to see bands in Bangkok. Bangkok is a great place to see big bands, because the gigs are smaller, the VIP section is cheaper and you get really close to the band.

This week, we went to see Noel Gallagher's Flying Birds, before going in to the gig, we sat at a table just outside and had a beer or two! A lovely couple asked if they could sit next to us as they were the only seats available. Of course we said yes, and the Thai lady, who spoke wonderful English introduced us to her Japanese boyfriend.

As we chatted more, we discovered they had been to Lanta, so we asked where. She could not remember the name but showed us a picture...... Of our gardens!!!! Turns out we met 3 years earlier.

Check out how close we got to Noel.

He's Back!

Christian (left) with Ssontara (right) at Korner Bar
Our first ever booking when we took over Mook Lanta Eco Resort, was from Christian, who was already a longtime repeat guest at the resort.

Since then, he has returned twice a year, every year. Loved by our staff and by many Thais and expats on the island, you truly know the high season has started when he arrives.

Luckily we took his demand for the bar to be expanded seriously, because it was his first question when we met him!
