Bye lads

We have had 3 great blokes staying at the resort this week and we are really sorry to see them go, but glad they took our advice to go to Phi Phi, rather than Krabi (trying to get to Krabi, the day after Hari Raya on a minibus would have taken forever).

Neng took them to Saladan,  so they could enjoy a great burger before they left.

Just a pity they forgot their passport and money! But we found them in time.

Don't forget that blog mentioned you promised for that discount! ;-p

Oktoberfest

This year the Koh Lanta community are organising a fun day on October 4th 2016. The event starts at 4pm and is at Cha Ba Bungalows and Oasis Yoga at Klong Dao beach.

There will be stalls, family fun, crafts and a general celebration of Koh Lanta.

The event is this year raising money for Lanta Animal Welfare, a very worthwhile charity and Mook Lanta Eco Resort, and many other businesses on the island, is pleased to be supporting this event and providing some accommodation and breakfasts to be auctioned/raffled off.

If you are on the island on this day, please take the time to visit this event and help this fabulous charity

Getting to the Island

This is a question we get asked a lot at this time of year (just before the start of high season). The island is quite easy to get to, but it does take time.

Airports
The nearest airports are Krabi Airport (2 hours), Trang Airport (2.5 hours) and Phuket Airport (4.5 hours). From Krabi airport you have 3 options (depending on the time of year):
1. Public minibus - runs hourly, from 7am to 5pm, about 400 baht per person, bookable at the airport
2. Private Taxi - runs at anytime (up until 9pm), 2500 baht per car, bookable at the airport or with us (send me your flight details info@mooklanta.com).
3. Passenger Ferry - runs once a day, about 500 baht per person, bookable at the airport.

You have similar options from Trang and Phuket but they are a little more expensive.
Passenger Ferry

Passenger Ferries
Depending on the time of year, we have ferries from Phuket and Phi Phi (twice a day), Krabi, Ao Nang, Trang and Koh Lipe. Only the Phuket and Phi Phi ferries run in the Green Season, so check with us.
Car Ferry

Car Ferries
If you come by car or minibus, these will need to use the car ferries from the mainland to Lanta Noi (a non-touristy island) and then another from Lanta Noi to Lanta Yai, where we are. These car ferries are small, but run constantly from 6am everyday to 10pm (they can run later than this for a fee!) and the journeys are short (10-20mins). The queues for the ferries can be long so we recommend adding an hour to your journey time to ensure you do not arrive too late for a flight etc. They are currently building a bridge between Lanta Yai and Lanta Noi but we are unsure when this will be completed.

If you are not sure which is the best option for you, email me directly (even before you book the flight or room) for good honest advice, because it might save you a night in Krabi or an expensive trip to the island. Lots of customers do contact me and I have been able to organise shared private transfers to reduce the cost.
