Emirates have announced that they will be, from the 1st December 2015, increasing their flights direct into Phuket by 4 per week.
Phuket is a minibus or ferry (depending on your landing time) away from Koh Lanta. So these flights might be worth looking at if you are coming over this High Season.
It may also be worthwhile, discussing with us, before you book the flight times, so that we can advise you on the best transfer choices for you. Send us an email and we will give you our best view on your options (info@mooklanta.com).

Tragedy in Bangkok
The Mook Lanta Eco Resort team want to express our sadness and grief over the tragedy that occurred in Bangkok last night. A bomb, the perpetrators unknown, went off in the central district of Bangkok, killing at least 19 people and injuring over a 100 more.
Currently no one is claiming responsibility for this act, which was a cowardly attack on the good citizens of Bangkok. Bangkok has never known a horror of this size.
We have been asked, by some guests how they can avoid being involved in anything such as this.
As an English person, I can tell you that these kinds of atrocities happen all over the world, but in reality they are few and far between, and you need to be very unlucky to be caught up in it. But there are things you can do:
1. Do not attend political rallies in foreign countries, tensions are always high at these events.
2. Watch the news, listen to advice and don't rubberneck (avoid visiting sites where this kind of incident has occurred).
3. Keep in touch with your family, they will worry (mine call me up every time there is a tsunami anywhere in the world). Make sure your friends and family know your plans.
4. Trust your instincts, if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, trust your feelings and move.
Please remember, these incidents are truly rare and should not stop you enjoying life.

Out with the old and in with the new
Gradually, as our the money in our pocket allows, we are upgrading the rooms and the resort as a whole.
A few months ago, we tiled the floors in the Standard Fan Bamboo Bungalows and hopefully in the next month will be replacing the roofs.
We have been wanting to change the large, cumbersome, retro Televisions in the Cozy Fan Bamboo Bungalows, Air Con Bungalows and Family Bungalows for some time, but we have not wanted to throw away televisions that work. Gin, our superb Hotel Manager, found new owners for all 17 televisions, in just 2 hours! So now we are currently replacing them all with spanking new flat screens!

Refuse plastic bags on the 15th and every other day of the month!
General Prayut, the current Thai Prime Minister has asked all Thai people to not use plastic bags on the 15th of every month. Whilst he, and us, would like plastic bag use to drop much more dramatically than this, the Thai government estimate that just this small gesture will reduce the plastic bags by 70 million!
General Prayut has put rubbish disposal on the National Agenda and is asking all Thai's to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
So help us, help Thailand, but not only on the 15th of every month, but every day, Reuse the bags you already have, Reduce the number of bags you need everyday and use Recycle bags (cloth bags) as much as you can.
Every Little Bit Helps!

Cycling in the Rain!
We have just had a wonderful group from Singapore leave us today.
They arrived on the boat from Langkawi and have cycled all the way to Lanta, despite some very rainy weather! Arriving exhausted after a 100km ride.
However it was dry enough for them to enjoy Old Town and buy a hammock or 2.
They even managed a beach clean up with Benji our dog in tow! Sunset drinks on the beach and much much more in only 2 days.
Now they have headed off to Krabi to enjoy the Emerald Pools, hope the sun shines for the journey home, please come back again, it was lovely to have you here and we promise sunshine next time!
